Travel Gadgets: Review of Noise Canceling Headphones

Noise canceling headphones have grown a lot in popularity ever since Bose really pushed their version.  Today you can get them in almost any size, from ear buds, to all ear encompassing.  Noise canceling headphones word by providing anti-noise.  While they don’t eliminate noise they significantly reduce the noise of an airplane.

The headphones let you listen you your music at a much lower volume which prevents your ears from getting tired.

The most popular player in this industry is Bose, but lately Sony has really started pushing their version.

Obviously the fully ear enclosing ones (circumaural) work the best but they also are the most bulky.

From there the size decreases, but also the noise canceling ability goes down.

High quality headphones will cost you over $300.  Cheaper ones can be had for less than $100.

Beware of very cheap ones because you have to wonder what you are getting for the money.  Obviously with Bose and Sony you are paying a premium for the name.

What ever you choose to buy make sure you are getting a warranty.  Reliability could still be an issue and make sure you turn them off for take off, the airplane mode on these is still not allowed even for takeoff.  This is my short review of noise canceling headphones
