Keeping Track of Your Business Travel Receipts
When I first started traveling for business I would come home and seemed to have receipts stuffed in over pocket of the clothes and every compartment of my travel bags. Tracking down all those receipts became a big hassle for me especially at the end of my trips…
Now before I leave on business trips I take one folder and one envelope and label them with the dates of the trips.
I keep the envelop on me and the folder in my luggage. Whenever I get a receipt I put it in my envelope. Then when I get a chance at the hotel or at the airport I just transfer the envelop contents into the folder.
This really helps me, because at the end of trips, unpacking and organizing is usually the last thing on my mind.
Also I keep the folder in my carry on luggage if possible, just in case my luggage gets lost, stolen, or someone opens my luggage.
Another way to simplify things is to just ask people to email you receipts. This makes it much easier to keep track of things.
Whatever method you choose to keep track of your travel receipts just make a system that works for you and use it religiously so it becomes second nature to you.
