International Business Travel Tips

International business travel tips can be found on most business travel sites, but here are some tips from me about what you should focus on when it comes to international business trips.  Most people focus too much on the small things and forget about the big things.  Here are my tips…

Depending on where you are traveling it can take weeks to get a visa to travel to a foreign country.  Your boss may not realize this and you may have to remind him you just can’t take off next week.  Some bosses are very bad about this and seem to needing constant reminders.

Also make sure your passport is not going to expire anytime soon either, most people blow this off.  Also when you do travel bring a couple of forms of ID.  You never know when you will need it.

Write down the address of the local American consulate as well.  You will likely never need it, but if you do you will likely need it in a hurry so have that address handy.

Electronic translators don’t always work, so it is always best to bring a phrase book with you if you are not fluent in the language.  Most foreign business people do speak English, but the rest of their country men likely do not.

Lastly, when you do fly international for business make sure you bring lots of patience.  If you don’t you will have learned how to have it by the time you come back.

Also, even in today’s electronic age, you will still feel left out about what’s going on at the office.  Accept this and you’ll do okay.
