Free Car Rental Upgrades
It seems like I always get free car rental upgrades except when I need one. You see I always rent an economy car when I rent a car. It seems like I get upgraded at least half the time due to unavailability of economy cars.
I don’t have any secrts on how to get free rental car upgrades or anything other than reserve an economy car and hope they are out of those by the time you get to the rental counter.
If you have a reservation for an economy car they will give you a bigger car or SUV free of charge if they have no economy cars left on the lot.
In some locations it seems like I always get upgraded and other places I don’t, but about half the time I get upgraded.
I believe a lot of this depends on how big the car rental facility is. Naturally at larger airports the car rental agencies there always seem to be stocked full of the tiniest economy cars, whereas at smaller airports they always seem to have only SUVs left, which is great for us.
Remember if you have reserved an economy car, they have to give you a free upgrade, so don’t voluntarily ask to be upgraded or else you will be charged.
I almost always rent through Alamo because they seem to have the best rates where I go. Alamo I have been very happy with so far and will stick with them for now.
