Eating Healthy On Business Trips

Eating healthy on business trips can be very hard to do if you even try to eat healthy at all.  With the stress of business travel sometimes you just want to eat at the first fast food restaurant you see in the airport.  I try to stay in shape and eat healthy on the road to keep my wife happy. Here is how I try to eat healthy on business trips.First of all, let me just say it is hard enough to eat healthy when you are not out on business travel, but once you are on the road it is even harder.  Fast food is so easy to find and so prevalent.  Trying to find healthier food to eat is harder, much harder.

One of the reasons I find it much harder it TIME.  When you are always rushing to the the next gate or to get where you want to go you need something fast.  Fast food restaurants either in the airport or not are built around convenience.  In less than 5 minutes you can have a warm meal.

But to eat healthy you often have to go to a sit down restaurant in the airport which often have long lines during busy times and you have to wait while the food is prepared.

No way I try to get around this and manage to stay in shape is always trying to eat some protein.  Protein fills you up much longer than french fries and you will actually feel better.

I normally buy protein drinks.  I will drink any protein drink I can find in airports which can be hard.  Odowalla, Myoplex, and there are others.  I will also grab a protein bar I carry with me in my travel bag and a diet coke.

Most people hate protein bars and shakes, but there are much easier to obtain forms of protein.  Beef jerky, peanuts, and chicken breast sandwiches are normally much easier to find and taste better.

As with all healthy eating it comes down to will power.  If you are exhausted after being in airports all day do yourself a favor and try to eat at least one healthy thing before heading over to McDonald’s.
