Check Your Bags Or Carry On?

Do you check your bags or carry them on?  This is always a nagging question for me.  But I make my decision by where I’m going, the size of the planes, and the airlines.  With United Airlines, Delta, and Northwest all charging $15 to check a bag sometimes it is an easy choice, and sometimes not.

Also for smaller airplanes you can also check your bags plane side as well.

For me I always check my bag at the counter (I have one computer bag I always carry with me).

Although I have to pay extra, checking my bag saves me stress and time.  This is especially true when flying smaller planes that have valet checked luggage (plane side checked).

People seem to always be waiting forever in the jet bridge to get their valet checked luggage whereas I can just keep going to my next gate and saving time.

Another reason why I like to check my bags is that I don’t have to lug them from one end of the airport to the other.  If you are at the Atlanta or O’hare airports that is huge.

Also, you can check all your bathroom supplies and not worry about 1-1-3 rule.  1 quart bag, 1 bag only, 3 onzes of liquid or less.

Being a frequent business traveling it is nice not having to run out and buy those little 3oz cans of shaving cream or toothpaste that seem to last for 3 days.

Also by dragging less stuff around you wil have more energy at the end of the day and not feel so beaten down.

So if you ask me, my opinion is to always check your bags at the counter if possible.  I have very rarely lost any luggage in all my travels.
